Orchestral Musings

Pulitzer Prize winner John Adams, one of America’s most celebrated and distinctive composers, takes to the podium once again to lead the Juilliard Orchestra and London’s Royal Academy of Music Orchestra in a program that includes his most recent work, City Noir. Adams himself describes the work as a ‘jazz inflected symphonic score that will be good for the students to get their teeth into’. According to the New York Times the orchestra is “powerful and polished, with superb individual contributions from players in every section.”
